Message from President Susan Lipman - Spring 2010

The arrival of Spring is always a welcome event! It has always been considered the season of renewal. Trees begin to bud, perennials start popping through the soil, and so there are so many other signs of new beginnings.

Things are not so different here in PTA! Not only are we getting materials ready as we always do preparing the materials you will need for a smooth transition from one school year into another, we are working on delivering some of these to you in new ways.

I am excited to share one of the features we are working on right now….an electronic bylaws feature. This will be something where you will be able to fill in key fields and when done it, with the simple click, the bylaws pattern will be filled in for you. No more trying to squeeze in some wording in a small space, etc. It will be nice, neat and filled out for you! All you will need to know to start is your 5-digit unit code number. We are not done creating this feature yet so stay tuned because when it’s ready there will be special announcement with everything you will need to know

The Member’s Only section of our website continues to grow. The purpose of this section is simple. All the resources we provide are for every member to use not just a select few. Some items will always remain as part of the public website but other items which we consider direct member benefits will only be placed in the Member’s Only section.

We are also moving toward making the monthly Fast Facts an electronic publication. Right now our plan is for 4 issues per year to continue to be sent in the mail with the unit and council mailings but the rest will be sent electronically. Therefore when you get the request to fill out the Annual Officer’s Contact information, make sure you include an email address for the person who will be president in 2010-11 as well as the other people listed (Please note: If you do not want to give us your personal email address, then create one for PTA use only…I did that years ago, it helps me stay organized).

I hope that you find the advent of Spring revitalizing for you and your PTA as we all continue to work together on behalf of children & youth.
